The Planet Sleeps is more than a compilation of powerfully beautiful music, it is the story of a traveler looking for connections in a world filled with conflict. It is an expression of soul, an extension of hope and a search for sanctuary.

David Field left his job at a record company in London and set off on an adventure collecting music from around the world. He planned to make a record that would show the similarities that exist between widely different cultures, regardless of racial boundaries. David hoped that this concept, presented to children and parents alike, might in some small way help challenge the beginnings of prejudice, wherever it may exist.

Though the languages and melodies of each song are different, they share the desire to provide safety and a vision of the world both real and celestial. The Planet Sleeps shows us there are places of sanctuary always within reach. For children, that sanctuary is often found within the soothing sound of a lullaby.
